Latest Estudiantes goalkeeper admires continental counterparts for winning a record 15th title as his group went along by three objectives in the final of the competition on Sunday evening.
After suffering an unacceptable 3-0 defeat to Uruguay, Paraguay goalkeeper Justo Villar has congratulated the 15-time South American champions.
Diego Forland scored twice after Luis Suarez opened the scoring as Uruguay beat Paraguay on Sunday to be crowned champions of the 2011 Copa America.
In spite of mourning, the unlucky injuries that cursed his group, the latest Estudiantes keeper was fast to congratulate a record breaking Uruguayan side.
Villar informed the reporters after the game, “That was fair – Uruguay as champions – because they had a very solid team, and the attackers [Forlan and Suarez] are two lions, they are among the best strikers in the world.”
“We had good games in the beginning of the championship, but after that the team went from huge to small. It cost us because we played a very physical football. It is not an excuse but we had many injured players,” he added.
“We got in the final because we had guts and luck. Today [Sunday] in the second half, we had the ball a lot and created chances but it did not work.”
